What is "generic", why it is bad and why it keep being misused?

i am sure there are many anime which are generic and which are still cool and worth a watch
so what do you all think about it?

It's not that bad at all.
People believe being plain and all is not that bad at all and as long as it's entertaining it shouldn't really matter when it comes to an anime.

lol but you have to admit it
too many anime following the same old predictable plot is not at all good lol. wouldn't you agree with that?

Generic isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just when you have 50 shows (or whatever form of media) that all do the same exact thing is when it gets annoying. It's like, "oh look another isekai where a guy who is a loser in real life becomes a god in a video game and magically has a harem for no reason. I've never seen that before"

It wouldn't make it not generic, but it'd at least be enjoyable.

Some of those SAO clones are probably enjoyable or good, but when they were releasing 3-4 isekai's a season, there wasn't really anything that gave people an incentive to check some of them out.

I saw dot Hack almost 20 years ago.

I saw the original dot hack sign, I didn't really care to go checking out the spinoffs or ova's. I do have the PS2 games
