I go to school and I have been told that not to give out my school name.

Can you read Japanese now?

It's okay not give too much personal info on the internet i appreciate your parents for telling you to be carefull, i'm a mother myself, that's why i call myself "the mother" + some people would like to stay anonymous and that's cool with me.
I can read some, but it's a work in process, i can read Hiragana perfectly, i have to work on my Katakana and Kanji, i'm only on my second beginner course now.

Japanese is composed of three different writing sets
the Japanese original writing is - Hiragana
Japanese also "borrowed" chinese words those are small drawings they are called Kanji, they might look the same in both languages but they are pronounced differently, also in writing it is used differently.
and last is Katakana, this set of letters was born to enable foreign words to be intergrated into the Japanese language, after all, Japan was mostly isolated from the western world until the 1800's. so many things didn't exist in the Japanese language, for example, they don't have Kettles, and they don't have a word for it either.
all of those are the parts of the Japanese writing system.
