I heard the term a lot and I am assuming it means a ficticious character that you really like their personality and looks so you proclaim to be your make believe partners. I don't think I ever had a character I can say is my waifu or husbando. I think it is more about the personalities and when I really like a character it is more like admiration than thinking anything intimate, if that makes sense. I just want to befriend them and think it would be cool if they cared about me and I get to see them use their powers/skills.
