Voice actor selections in anime

How do you think, they are going to select voice actors?
Based on the personality alone? Or is it popularity?

Cool man.
Usually a lot of practice is needed for it. It's not so easy as it seems otherwise.

They are being overworked.
Just like animators they are being part of making anime after all.

I understand
I was just thinking out loud. I haven't seen any voice actors having so much trouble.

All of them got troubles man
It's not so easy as you believe. They just do it because they like it.

Based on what little knowledge I know, sometimes they go through auditions, but that can be really time consuming, depending if they audition any voice actor, or just through a specific company. Other times you’ll see a character and think “I know just the person to play this character”.

Famous voice actors, usually wouldn't want to act for more and more characters.
I don't remember Luffy's voice actor, acting for any other character :D

I never knew that
I thought after she got recognition with Luffy's character, she stopped doing other characters entirely. This is news to me
If you don't watch the shows the actor was in, you'd get the impression they disappeared or something. Especially if they typically get typecasted into genres you don't really watch.

Then there's also the case where a lot of sub-only fans claim they pay close attention to the voices of the actors, but can't recognize VA's to save their life, even when the different characters sound exactly the same.
