Really.. i think, some series are damaged by their own anime adaptation. They are significantly downgraded because the anime adaptation leave the juicy part untouched. Here we go..
Samurai X. After Kyoto arc it's a downhill for Samurai X, just what are those arcs? They left the best part, the Jinchu arc, where Kenshin must face his private past and there are lot of good emotional scenes and things about Kenshin's past. Yes they give OVA for that, but that's not how you do it
Kekkaishi. Sure the Kakuborou is cool but the coolest has yet to come. They just stop after Kakuborou, that's when the series enter the climax. Seriously.. this treatment makes Kekkaishi looks like second rate series where actually they can compete with Naruto. They have everything to sit there among the top
Bartender. This one is criminally damaged by their own anime adaptation. I'll be honest, when i saw the anime there is no good impression about it. I was like.. 'what is this?' then i feel curious and pick up the manga. Well.. everything is totally different from the bland and aimless anime adaptation
Gantz. Again.. this one left the juiciest part of the series. Now people know Gantz only for shallow series with lot of violence when it's actually not, there is more of Gantz than people know from the anime version. This series deserved to sit there among the top too
So.. what i'm trying to say is, if they don't want to fully adapt the series.. then they should not, it just damaged the series
