Short female characters in anime

why do i feel like most of the female characters in anime, are too short?
they are so small when compared to the male characters.
 
Most Japanese girls are really short. My sister is average height for a girl in America, but when we go to Japan, she’s considered tall.

oh cool.
but i thought the same would be for males too. it's not like they are tall.

Kinda, probably depends on where you go. Most guys I met were like 5'6 to 5'8 and the girls were 4'9 to 5'3.

Then there's the time I went to Denmark and felt like a midget, because all that Ikea food makes the guys giraffes over there.

that's something
i haven't really been to other places much to know so much about it.
