Sacrifice for love

Does this kind of thing appeal to you in anime? Have you ever come across an anime where the guy or girl sacrifices something to be with their love or to protect them? If I am not mistaken I just found out that Light's girl from Death note did something similar to be with him. Is this true?

That female protagonist, decided to sacrifice everyone to protect the man she loved.

This either angers me or entices me, it really needs to be done in the right way but most of the time its, I'll protect X despite the fact it would save billions by giving X up. Always a hard choice.

That's a great way to think about it unlike me who actually did this in the name of love and then regretted...guess there are many things to consider other than just love
