Finished this anime tonight, overall a pretty good series with interesting characters. It's already confirmed to be getting a season 2, so I can't wait to see what they do.

and to be honest, from what i have observed, it's all in first episode alone.
it gets better after that

This is a popular anime
I just don't think it's for me for various reasons and I am sure I will drop it even if I pick it up

lol you shouldn't judge it based on the title alone
but i hear you and i don't want to force you to watch an anime you don't want to

I started watching the first episode. I could not finish it. I don't remember the last time I physically cringed so much watching something as much as I did during the first 10 minutes of this episode. Why would you pay someone to go on dates with you, knowing full well that it won't lead to any long-lasting relationship?

And the scene in the hospital. Unless the grandma has some sort of mental disorder, I can't explain why she would think that asking her grandson and the person he had just introduced as his girlfriend about their sex life could be considered appropriate.

No, just no. The first episode was unwatchable for me.

The dude just got dumped by his girlfriend that he really liked, so he’s just trying to get over her. So his logic for hiring a rental girlfriend isn’t that crazy.

Also rental girlfriend services is essentially prostitution without sex. You’re really lonely and need that female attention, or you’re trying to show off you have a really attractive girlfriend that you really don’t have.

Guys can get really sleazy about stupid stuff like that when they’re desperate.

Need to find time for the next season, though not sure if it looks to be better.
There’s more backstory on Chizuru in season 2 and is about her trying to make it as an actress. Season 3 comes out in July, and I’m assuming that’s when the movie arc happens and a new girl gets introduced.

Show off to whom? Strangers? He had no intention of presenting her to any of his family members or friends. If it weren't for the fact that his grandma had a health situation that required him to go to the hospital (and for some reason, the girl tagged along), no one would have met the girl and no one would have known about her.

By hiring someone whom you will know will never be your girlfriend to pretend that she is? To me, that just seems to make it worse because not only does it remind you that you don't have a real girlfriend, but you also waste money. He could have used that money to buy himself some food and clothes or something he liked (books, gadgets, whatever).

I was telling you why the service exists, practice some reading context clues next time. He also does show her off to his friends later too, so yeah, cry more.

You don’t have to agree with his decision, I’m explaining why he did it, because you were confused at why. Some people get dumb and desperate when they’re heartbroken. His actions weren’t that out of the ordinary, it’s just that rental girlfriends don’t really exist in most countries.

Adding more females to this mess won't help any.

watched it before but dropped it in the middle. i am not a fun of stories revolving around people for hire this way
