Opponents looking down on MCs in sports anime

I don't like it at all. It would make us root for the main characters even more. It's just, well there are power houses they shouldn't look down on others just because the are supposed to be strong.
Anyone feel the same here?
 
Is this really a sports anime thing though? This could be said for all animes that have some kind of MC that is popular.

Isn't that the scenario entirely different. I believe she must be talking about mc's who are not popular and the opponents who are popular

Normally that would make me want to cheer for the mc'S even more.
Guess that's why I liked diamond no ace that much
 
it would make the victory that much sweeter. i like it in anime a lot. not just sports anime but in action anime too
 
It's quite common. If the main protagonists start the top, then there wouldn't be much to see.
