Not many tanned characters in anime

why don't we see any tanned characters in anime?
there are many people who are tanned even in japan

I'm guessing to just keep the details of characters rather simple as I'm sure shading just adds more unneeded work.

There are some tanned characters man, but they aren't popular enough.
Anime is from Japanese and you don't see many tanned people in Japan.
