Not getting alerts

i can't get any alerts
it's always showing 0. why is that?
aren't alerts and notifications notify us when someone quotes us?

Are you sure? It works perfectly for me.......Click User CP, go to "edit options" after scrolling down, and make sure that your Board Style is "Blue Velvet"...........

i am using velvet theme but i can't get any alerts. even now
i just registered today. may be it will take sometime to activate or am i the one being outcasted by it?

Go to User CP -> Editing option. Check your Messaging and Notification. Make sure that the option "Alert me with a notice when I receive a Private Message." is abled.
