why do many main protagonist have scars? is it too just symbolize their hard work or do you think, they nm make them look tough?

Show a lot of different things such as a large part of their life, a tragic moment, something they risked themselves for.

They must have gone through a lot, to get those scars. So I believe it has something to do with the experience.
