Kagome vs Kykyo?

Are we to compare Kikyo and Kagome by their own merits on in their relationship with Inuyasha?
Anyway I don't know. I disliked Kikyo at first, when she was portrayed as up to no good. Even after learning the tragic story of their past. But by the time you realises what she was really up to is kind of late yet by then it becomes so clear just how strong her bond is with Inuyasha. On the other hand as unfair as things happened her time was up 50 years ago.
Kagome does become stronger as the show goes on and really my main problem with her is that her personality with Inuyasha resembles a little too much that of Akane with Ranma. After 100+ episodes with Ranma, Inuyasha with ranma's voice and personality doesn't help. But whereas Akane often became the damsel in distress that never really did much with her own martial arts training, Kagome is more apt to rely on her skills which I like.
In the end for all I have said I could give Kagome the win but I feel she doesn't really stand up as an unique character. Kikyo has more uniqueness to her and is definitely in my books the more interesting character out of the two. I don't care what Kagome does back in her normal life as mucha s I am curious on Kikyo's normal life before Naraku's intervention.
