I study Japanese from classes...
And I really enjoy doing it :)
The best thing about it is I got a really sugoii sensei :)

Most of you here probably know some Japanese :P
What are your favourite words and words which you use often?

I'm not really familiar with more than to the extent of how to say hello. Some of my friends are more diligent students, one of them in fact now has the privilege to study abroad in Japan.

I may take classes in the future, after I learn a few other languages(Sanskrit, Spanish, German, etc.)............

What do they teach you in that class? Do they try to teach you to speak Japanese, or you also learn reading kanji?

She teaches me to read and write Hiragana and Katakana along with Kanji practice :)

Actually I didn't know(due to my own stupidity) that I will have to write Japanese when I first went to class :P But then sensei started writing letters on board and I realized that I am gonna have to write, read and speak :P

That is true somehow...

Do they teach you "actual Marathi" or just for name-sake?

The school system has "actual Marathi"
But how it is taught depends upon the teacher...
So in 5th when i was learning the letters...the teacher didn't teach well..in 6th as well...after that teacher changed 7th and she teaches well but I am not much clear of grammatical concepts of it anymore...so as a result I always screw it xD

Well reading kanji is really hard, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was avoided all together. I think I've read somewhere that native Japanese learn about 1000 kanji at school, while there are about 6000 total xD That is insane. If that is true that basically means that the language is too hard for the native speakers, they can't read some texts even after graduating from school.

So is that your main foreign language class? =) I mean, obviously you have or had English classes, but that probably isn't considered to be a foreign language in India, since it has such a wide use.

I will probably have to learn minimum 3000 Kanji in next 2 years @.@

And yeah it is..for now :D

Well, I asked this because the syllabus of Sanskrit in NCERT is juz for name-sake...........It is not in-depth, and even though I learnt it for 5 years, all I did was get full marks, and I am not able to communicate in Sanskrit...........Heck, I am on the verge of completely forgetting it............Strange, though, cuz NCERT is usually good.............
