Is it common thing to watch anime halfway?

In anime community, is it common to just watch anime for just one or two seasons and ignored the rest of the series?
If yes, then why people doing that? Why bother to start something if they don't want to know how the story finished? What is the purpose of watching anime like this? Are this kind of watcher only concern about characters punching each other? Lol

People lose interest or get busy with other things. Even for me, it was getting a bit hard to watch Naruto at times.

Some people have a life, so they get distracted with it, or maybe the show ended up going downhill for them after awhile.

Also if a show is in the triple digits, I think you’re being petty to force them to finish a show “because they started it”.

i wouldn't say petty lol
but don't you think if the anime is not bad, then they should watch it completely.

What part of “they have a life” my post did you not understand?

I think it’s definitely petty to get upset over someone not finishing a show, especially because it’s always one that you like. If you didn’t like it, you’d agree with why they dropped it.

they have the time to select something else and not this?
it feels half baked to me and that's why i ask rinko to pick the dropped anime.

How long is the show in question? Though I’d they don’t like it, they don’t like it.

Okay.. but don't people want to know the end of the story of the series? I never did this  so it's hard for me to comphrehend

There’s a point where you just stop caring. You lose interest in the series and just stop caring. Especially if it’s a pretty long series.

more than 3/4th to the show
and it's not about liking. they just lose interest and after nudging, they would pick it up again and complete it.

Sure but for series less than 100 it's not that long, it's always nice to see the end of the story of series we watch (if it's me)

That doesn't mean someone has to finish it if they're not interested in it anymore just because they started it.

Tbh creeping to 100 episodes is actually a gigantic pain for me to watch. I have other things I do besides watch anime all day in my free time.

Oh well.. okay then, if it's me i never did it, if i watch the entire season one then i'll definitely watch until the end, call me old fashioned audience but i really want to know the end of the story

I wouldn’t call it old fashion, I call it OCD.

oh wow grungie.
that's too blunt and yeah may be it can be a light ocd but still putting it that way..

Is it weird? It's new for me for people not finishing the series they start. If they don't have time or anything they can jump lot of episodes and straight to the last episode. But anyway.. i guess that people watch action genre to watch characters punch each other, not for the story lol

this is true
i watch the ending for a lot of series and sometimes when i can't hold in the excitement, i spoil it myself by watching the last episode of that anime. lol

I guess you never heard of people dropping anime before, or did you only think people dropped anime after a few episodes?

But yes, you’re weird.
