Is death an appropriate punishment?

I do believe that, no one should kill another person, no matter what.

They deserve punishment for their evil deeds, but that punishment, doesn't necessarily mean "death".
Also, I don't really believe in physical torture either. Instead of bringing out the "real person" i.e. human nature, it brings out the cruelty.
This is just my opinion.

Depends on what they done, if they are a mass murder then they should be put to death quickly. For them to live only means they leech off of the resources meant for other people.

I am biased about this. I believe if someone kills someone then they should suffer the same fate but it's proving that you have the right person before doing anything because it can so easily be the wrong person who gets punished.

It would depend on the background in my opinion. Mostly, I do not condone capital punishment. But if it deems so, then I guess it's only necessary in a justified sense.

I feel like if someone kills another person then it could potentially be justifiable to punish them with death.

I don't think death is ever an acceptable punishment.

"You murdered someone, so we're going to kill you because killing is wrong!"

Makes total sense.

This statement "

left me speechless!

Why did it leave you speechless? It's exactly what supporters of the death punishment are advocating. I am against death punishment. Nobody should be killed regardless of what they have done.

What if a person loves to kill?
What if he/she seeks pleasure by killing?
In the case he /she is dangerous to be left alone.
Locking them up all their life isn't fair. In that case, what would you do, Mina?

Why isn't it fair to lock them up their whole life? That's exactly what I would do. Keep them locked up in a cell with 2 meals a day and a grilled window to see the sunlight.

If they love killing others for fun then they need to be locked up for life especially if they don't want to change....If they're self harming or will hurt other inmates then the guards will put them in an isolated room and strap them down to a chair making it impossible to move so no one will get hurt (:

What if they think dying is way better than living a caged life?
Can you still do something like that?

I have a uncle who's serving a life sentence and feels like that, he's suicidal so they have him in a isolated room strapped to a bed we can't
even visit or call him anymore

So, that sort of life is okay with you?
He doesn't want to live anymore and a caged life is not at all better than death.
Come on Mina! you don't truly believe that. Do you?

Yea it is bc taking away another person's life isn't okay fam or not he was wrong for what he did and he needs to take
responsibility for it. Jail isn't easy but he should've thought about that before pulling the trigger so i can't say i feel bad
for him. But jus out of curiosity what do you feel would be the right punishment for him star?

The only time I would go for the death penalty is when someone kills another person or lot's of people. All the other crimes they can rot in jail but for a murderer (especially a mass murderer) they should get the death penalty.

Well, in that case, I do agree with you.
What if a person has psychological problems?
What if he/she has the tendency to use violence, every now and then?

I don't think death is an appropriate punishment at all. I think all human beings deserve to live, and that murder is a horrible crime. However, I still think that no human being that commits murder (or commits any other kind of serious crime) should be executed. I think I'd much prefer to see a killer locked up for life, serving a jail sentence, rather than seeing them taking the easy way out - being executed.
