Is bullying in Japan really that extreme like it's on anime?

Could be exaggerated a bit for anime, but yeah unfortunately bullying definitely happens all over.

I seriously doubt that it is. Media tend to exaggerate societal problems for humor or drama. It happens in Western television shows as well. If you judged every society only by its entertainment, you'd certainly have a skewed perception of the world. xD

I do find it funny how when weabs watch Western shows they all have suspension of disbelief and know things are exaggerated, but the second they watch anime, they assume everything is the same irl.

Well, from my experience and understanding about how life goes at my age, I believe that bullying is a normal thing with human beings all over the world and not just in Japan or anime portraying it.

But japanese culture is much more tender than other ones. I do think that, since they are portraying it on Animes, their culture really adores simplicity and avoid such inhumane behaviours.
