Is anyone playing Yugioh nowadays?

This is out of my curiousity. I remembered when I was in secondary/high school, I was so into Yugioh, both games, manga, and even anime. I had to stop playing Yugioh for a pretty long time due to University entrance exam. But when I came back I literally couldn't play it anymore. It felt like everything has become so OP, so many outrageous combo/stuffs (XYZ - they are literally OP, and then they have Pendulum... like what? seriously? What kind of broken summoning is that?)
I know that in tournament things are absolutely different but for casual player like me... I really miss Vanilla Yugioh (stop at Synchro).

I have never played yugioh but I had friends who would ballistic over those games. I don't know what's in that game or anime, but it's popular and people love it. As for me, I don't like the art style and the games are just too boring for me.

I watch the anime until Zexal, sadly I have to say it is more like new cards advertisement. The plot? Eh... not that interesting anymore.
Arc V is in different plot a little bit, but still not interesting to me.
Sadly I feel Yugioh franchise are going toward commercial side. Maybe it is just I cannot accept the new changes but still... good to hear that it is still popular.

The game is actually really good, strategies, combinations and stuffs. I used to be crazy about it since Vanilla Yugioh until the end of Synchro (5Ds in term of anime). After that, just like I said, seems things are so OP that I can't follow anymore.

Do you still watch yugioh even now? I heard that that are still airing and I believe it's almost like pokemon all over again, with yugioh.

If they are games for handheld (Nintendo stuffs) then yeah the plots are somewhat similar, the only difference is they put you in the position of main hero instead of main characters from the anime.

I still have my old set from back when I was in high-school. I would use it again if I had the chance with someone with a similar era deck. I know the game has evolved and I have no interest in catching up with the new rules and cards. It was blast back in the day though.

It's a good thing then. It would have been great if all that is in VR. Then we can actually feel the tension. Do you play VR games?
