I’d probably go with the latter. Nothing wrong with a cliche story imo, but a show with terrible animation would distract me from enjoying the alleged good story.

Not really, my teachers were mostly annoyed with me because I had potential for having great grades, but my GPA was basically tarnished because I refused to do homework.

Well, it is a VISUAL form of entertainment.

I’m not gonna try to fool myself or anyone that I’m into super deep shit, and I’m in the hobby for deep thought provoking shit. I just watch things for superficial reasons like “it looks fun”, “that looks cute”.

Along with the deep artsy stuff, I’d be lying if I say I’m always looking for unique experiences. There are a lot of samey series I enjoy.

I mean, half the embarrassment is from stuff I’ve actually said or did, so I don’t see why I should get angry over something I actually did.

I don’t know what’s cool or impressive about not being embarrassed about what I like. I don’t have any really weird hobbies and interests, and my hobbies are usually very popular or fairly popular, so it’s not hard to find a coworker or friend that’s into it.
