if you like an anime or manga do you look for the author's other works? or do you look for similar plot first?
i look for author's other works first.

I never really thought of doing that..I should probably try it. Might find something similar to arrogance and romance. I just go through whatever is available and choose one that I like

I first look for the studio, if it's something like Bones or KyoAni you can expect similar anime since they do a lot of stuff in-house. Then I look for the director's other works. After watching A Place Further Than the Universe, I watched Atsuko Ishizuka's other works, No Game No Life and The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. I also tried Prince of Stride but it was shit. I don't care about the source material so I don't really go out of my way to search for those things unless I really really like something.

Hey I did try one...I even left you a comment in it's thread...can't remember its name exactly but it was ok..I didn't hate it and the story was okay to

I don't have an order, I just check what ever until I find what I'm looking for.
 
Not really, for previous works, I may pay attention more to future works because not everyone always does a great job on all projects.
