Hunter x Hunter is gonna resume on Jan 29 2018. I have read any chapter that go beyond what the 2011 anime adapted but I think I may start reading this soon.

One good thing about this series unlike One Piece's Oda, you always know when the next hiatus is when a new DQ game comes out :P

Bummer really. I wish Togashi would hire a ghost artist. He had the perfect opportunity to do that when the anime was on-going, but I guess he was extremely stubborn. He could have given it to his wife too, given that she did Sailor Moon.

He could hire an artist, but that wouldn't be an obvious choice. His unique art style is significant a part of the attraction of the manga. Also, writing the story the way he does it would still take a ton of effort, even without the drawing =)

That is one way of viewing it. But why do you think Togashi should be worried about the anime in the first place =) He is a manga artist, his story doesn't has to be adopted. Manga isn't just a script for the anime. Sure, anime brings money and fame, but Togashi has it all regardless. I don't feel like it is worth giving up on drawing his own story, especially for such an exceptional artist like Togashi.

Maybe the reason HxH anime is so good is because Togashi takes his time writing it =)

One is just an amateur artist. Also, Murata being Murata, he is doing insane things with the manga OPM adaptation. You can see it on his live streams, the hours he is putting into every page is pretty crazy. But that is just how he

I just know that manga makers work crazy hours, putting forth a lot of effort to churn something out and not getting much rest or great pay in return.

Personally I feel a lot of manga would benefit from monthly releases.

True, but we wouldn't be able to get amazing adaptations. I know that's a selfish thing to say, but, we were able to get a complete adaptation of FMA only when the manga was about to end. Attack on Titan Season 2had to be delayed 4 years too(partly because of it). Most monthly manga don't get complete adaptations. It's unfortunate, really.

I've been watching the toonami airing of HxH, though I much rather watch this daily or more episodes than one a week, it keeps me entertain to watch the next episode despite lots of info episodes or simply training.

It's actually 30. The animated adapted till Chapter 339, and 370 chapters are out there right now. No, I think it's not necessary to have a page for page adaptation these days. Those days are gone. Ever since this decade, seasonal adaptations of shounen manga have become popular, and they usually don't do stuff like how things were adapted last decade. Be it Magi or Nanatsu no Taizai or Shokugeki no Souma. And even though I've not watched these, Haikyuu and Kuroko no Basuke. My Hero Academia is probably an exception, but it does the opposite, it greatly expands on the events in the manga.

I need to watch some videos based on Hunter x Hunter too. I've always done that for most of my favourite anime and I didn't do it for this. Though, the reasons why I like it are pretty clear to me.

I thought the same too initially, but the logic I applied was that you shouldn't have too many people if you are breaking in, so as to avoid detection. It's dumb and rudimentary, I know, but it helped me get around it.

No. In terms of art-style, tone and everything it's extremely detailed. That's one of the plus points of dividing anime into seasons. You don't have to constantly pump out anime week after week, and have differing quality in animation and art. But, I'm just saying that minor details and events are skipped so as to keep the pacing as tight as possible.

In the wiki, the arcs are divided as 'Dark Continent Expedition Arc', which spans from 340 to 348, and Succession Contest Arc, from 349-???. Even if we club together both of these as one arc, do you see it going as long as the Chimera Ant Arc?

The only negative is that people forget that there's another season, that's why in MAL, the numbers for sequels(plan to watch, watching, watched, etc) is always less than the first season. Or they aren't interested. A bit of both, I guess. The only exception is DBZ, which has more numbers than DB. Reboots are a different story.

I really hope Togashi is able to continue for a long time. I'd be interested to pick up the manga if there's like a 100 chapters. Plus, there's a chance of it getting adapted by Madhouse. After all, they don't seem to be doing a lot of original shows next year, and this year, they did like 1 show, and a movie. Bankruptcy, and the studio splitting into two can affect even the best, I guess.

That is normal, people who didn't like it enough to keep watching will stop, no problems there. Pretty sure next HxH season would be very popular still. See how JoJo or Gintama get away with making a season after season and still have a big enough dedicated fanbase.

I promise, it already is very interesting xD And it is one of those cases where reading it one chapter at a time might be even more fan, cause that way you have a week to think about what is going on, see what other people think and so on. The title "Succession war" implies that the plot would be a bit convoluted, and this very much the case.

Does Madhouse have financial problems or something? Haven't heard of it O.o Would be really sad if they get low on funds, I am very fond of their movies...

Heck, for a manga that's been on a string of long hiatuses, the latest volume sold almost 2 million copies. Granted, being on a hiatus means people will talk about it when it's being serialized. Nevertheless, it's still extremely popular.
Yeah, and they are extremely popular in Japan, yes, and even there, the sales figure decrease every season. The monogatari series is probably one of the few exceptions, in that even though its sales are also declining, its not at the same rate as other series.

Then, I guess I'll wait for a few weeks after it resumes and start reading. I'm already planning to start Berserk and Kingdom manga in January, during my travel from and to the University.

It apparently went bankrupt and that apparently caused Masao Maruyama to go on his own and form MAPPA, which has many of the core staff from Madhouse. They made stuff like Zankou no Terror, Yuri!! on Ice.
