How you will rate an anime if it is animated so beautifully yet the story is average?

Is it the same for you guys? Do you think a bad story can he compensated with good animation?

Completion? Do you mean if it's dropped or something?
What if it's got a normal ending for that arc or season?

if it's completed or not, as in labled as complete or ended. dropped i guess counts but i don't mind that really.

I take it you wouldn't try out an ongoing anime at all.

completion can be: Ongoing, Hiatus, Dropped, Finished.

well it's a rating not a restriction. some people never try and look into an anime if it's ongoing or not so i add that so if they care they know,

I understand it.
Most people I know wouldn't want to deal with an anime which is still ongoing.

i understand why i'm impatient but at the same time i get antsy to read it then i get excited waiting for the next

Wouldn't you find it great to speculate or try to predict what would happen next?

It's the characters that carry anything for me, I don't care if the story is average. So great animation + characters is a homerun in my book.

i don't think all the characters need to be good.
what if you dislike a particular character? what will you do? and how many characters need to be likes for a series to be good?

You are needlessly over-analyzing it. If one character is annoying then I won't like the series as much.

Orochimaru is a great villain. Anyway if I like the rest of the characters then I guess I like the show a lot. It's simple.

I think I plce more weight on the story than animation. Honestly, when the story got me invested I don't notice that the animation is just average, but when the animation is cool but the story is too dumb and frustrating then I doubt I'll stay.

That being said, beautiful animation makes me think of those awesome choices of angle and color to get the best perspectives and compliment what the story is trying to convey. I appreciate cool shots of action, panning on a place, that jump out of the common techniques and deliver some neat unique approach that really works well for the scene.

Madara makes a good point with the characters too, not all anime is story driven, some of them is more about the characters and they are whatdictate the flow. Well written complex characters in a very average story can still create compelling episodes to watch.
