How to Create and Maintain a Successful Forum

0) Plan your forum. This is the most important way to know what people are into. Open up a word document or notepad. Have a look at some of the popular forums and get some ideas!

1) Create your forum. Try and make your idea unique to other forums. Forums can be created for free at prophpbb freeforums

2)It is a good idea to create maybe two or three threads in each forum area, so that visitors to the site, and new users, will have somewhere to post. Many new forum users are too shy to post new threads on their own.

3) Share your website on social media. This will be a great way to get users and other people to sign up on your forum.

4). Create a set of rules and put in on Global Announcement. Rules are very important so people know how to behave on your forum

5) Look out for good and active people. Pick them to be a moderator on your forum. This will help keep spam and from people breaking the rules.

a good rough draft, but lacks some crucial details. I would add in:

Keep the board organized and don't create a lot of boards that need to be posted in.

You will need to spend a good 2-4 hours daily on your forum from advertising it and keeping it active.

And make sure your forum's idea is kept alive with plenty of related activity.

My suggestion is to register a new domain for your forum if you are planning to run it for a long time. If you are using freeforum, people may think it as just a hobby and will not take it seriously.

I agree. Having a domain name is very important for a first impression. While I know a few large forums running on free forum hosting companies, such as FreeForum, guests are usually more likely to turn into members if you have a domain name, instead of a subdomain.

Do you really think that making a forums community really popular is SO EASY? That's NOT, my friend!
Webmasters have very hard times administrating them. They need to pay stuff for them like hosting server, forums software, forums themes, forums plugins and many other stuff.
And there are other billions of forums communities like yours, how're you going to make your forum more popular than others?
Are you really going to pay every single user every single day to just stay and post stupid staff on your forums? Is it needed or convenient? I think it's NOT!
You need to post content that will attract new users day after day that other forums communities do not have or maybe have in a worst quality or harder to understand something.
Stuff like those, are the real nightmare of all of the webmasters around the World.
