How often do you actually feel bad for villains with tragic/sympathetic backstories in anime?

Depends on the villain. Some of them have “tragic” backstories that are done poorly, with some being forced, or just edgelord.

That's true. Some backstories are only created to make the series standout rather than to add something to the plot

I used to feel bad for them in the past but now I got too used to stuck scenarios that I hardly feel anything now
