so what do you all think?
do you think it will have that position forever or do you think something else will come and knock it out?

It depends on how longer people would like it
Some people say that MAL would always make it stay at the top but we don't know that for sure

However long the poison of MAL apparently lasts.

is that so?
and then grungie isn't kidding when he said mal makes fullmetal stands at the top. i thought he was joking.

It all depends on how long people keep on rating it higher because there isn't a new one to knock it off the top spot yet but to be honest, it deserves the top spot.

I wasn’t, it’s pretty well known that the community on MAL is notorious for their obsession with FMAB being #1. Any time anything else reaches #1, within a couple of hours it gets downvoted with tons of 1 star ratings. They even make brigade threads in the forum.

The most recent one was the final season of Fruits Basket. It made number one, and in less than 24 hours it got bombed so hard with 1 stars it dropped to #5. Your Name and the final season of Attack on Titan also used to be number one.

You can see how those entries also have a suspiciously large amount of 1 star ratings compared to other entries that were never in the top rankings.

Omg, is that really true? Normally I watch their list for reviews and all. If they are doing like that, where can I get actual reviews then? That's pathetic.  >:(

Outside of the people who are completely oblivious to what goes on the top anime portion, only a special group of people take that list seriously.

Tbh I always take fan run aggregate sites with a grain of salt. Sometimes you have to take the community’s politics into account, because if the website is not fond of a specific genre, you’re never going to get a real answer on its quality.

I personally never take the actual score that seriously either. I never go “oh no, this show only got a 7.9”. If I see a 7 or higher, that means people liked it, and if I see a 4 or lower, people hated it.

Amateur aggregate sites are good for general opinions, but never go deeper than that.
