How long they are gonna last?

For how long do you think mainstream Shounen will keep the same formula? What do you think the thing that would change it? Do you have prediction what kind of formula that come after the current one?

Who knows, Shonen Jump’s been using those tropes for decades, and the popularity of their series with those tropes haven’t really slowed down.

I guess it’ll die off when Shueisha starts to see diminishing returns, and a new formula becomes more profitable.

I wouldn't say that's true at all. I'm just making a face value observation here, but seeing the series that are brought up, and shonen being called a genre here, it doesn't seem like there's a lot of diversity. So that might be giving you that sentiment. When you branch out, you'll definitely see other styles or genres blow up and die out. Mecha sort of disappeared, while isekai's and idol shows blew up.

So I still stand by that if some other magazine with their own style overtakes Shonen Jump's popularity, I don't think they feel a need to change if their template is still profitable.

Well yea, it's just natural to maintaining status quo for things like business and industry, no need to take a risk as long as they still can maintain flows of income

When they do it so much they finally recopy the same characters in a same story line? I'm hoping in the next decade the formula changes somewhat.

They can last forever
It's the best formula and something like that can never get too old.

They will have slight additions but it's basically the same.
I think even my parents watched the same thing too without some additions.
