How do you choose an Anime to watch?

I usually go by genre. If it's a shojo, preferably a shojo magical girl anime.

I'd watch any anime having a good story, somewhat not-so-slow placing, and good dialogues........

If I like the sounds of the plot I look up a trailer and from there I'll know if it will be worth my time.

I'll ask my friends, or check MAL for recommendations of an anime that I liked. I check out the author's other works if the anime I liked is adapted from a manga/light novel, and also check what other projects has the translator translated. There's a MALgraph that gives me automated recommendations by scanning my list so I sometimes refer to it too. I usually don't pick up random anime.

people recommend to me in yo and i choose what to watch first. i always pick whatever is recommended to me and i always give everything a try

I maintain a list in my sticky notes. I choose one anime at random. I don't research much before picking it up but I do check out things while adding something to my list.
