How do you advertise your forum?

These days, its difficult to advertise a forum, thanks to the social sites.


People prefer social networking sites over forums after all. So, for a newbie forum, how do you advertise it?

Also, do you advertise legally(Following all the rules and all)?

Usually social networking or just by signatures, in advertising in different forums.
I advertise legally (couldn't think of an illegal way tbh..)

I have close to 600 members on my forum, and I receive very high traffic. I got those members through online influence, using YouTuber, other forums, and social networks.
