How did you get into anime ?

How did you get into anime and what was the first anime you watched (knowing that it was anime)

I got into it at the age of 14 when my cousin was watching naruto and I was like ow that's really cool, what is it?

Naruto was my first anime (even tho I had watched pokemon and stuff before but I didn't know it was anime at the time

It's pretty interesting how a thread like this one didn't get an answer yet. Ok, I'll be the first one to answer! I got into anime first when I was 6y.o. and watched "Digimon" (I also collected cards for the album). Then I got into anime once again in 2007 when I started watching to "DragonBall" and "Naruto Shippuuden". At the end, I got into anime in 2011, starting with "Toradora".

dragon ball was everyone's first and many people like it a lot and still follow it but digimon being your first anime is strange. digimon is plain and no wonder you didn't watch anime after that.
 
Same reason that everyone got into anime, Toonami on Cartoon network when they aired shows like Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z. Those were great days.
 
I remember over hearing some of my friends talking about something called cowboy bebop, I didn't really know what it was so I googled it and found out it was an anime didn't know much about anime at all so I found somewhere to stream it watched a few episodes and fell in love it with it and now here I am almost 2 years later.
 
I don't even remember it. May be I saw some re runs on TV or I might have seen streamed anime sometime.
