I've come into this conclusion, he's the man, he deserve to be on the top tier. After totally caught by 'I am a Hero' i'm amazed by 'Ressentiment' both are masterpiece that brilliantly caught picture of human, humanity and life. If you simply think that 'oh.. one is about zombie and one is about adventure' then there's something wrong with your reading, it's bigger that that , although i must admit that after read those two it leave bitter after taste to me.
His story telling and story building is good, i think that the guy almost on par with Hironobu Sakaguchi (Final Fantasy), various characters are alive and well developed, he capable to progress the story with slow pace and fast pace. Also he capable to bring the most unusual scene to us.. like the scene of confessing love on a bicycle while chase by pack of running zombies, really?? And how he brilliantly bring us the most emotional death by garbage truck scene, OMG..
But of course this guy has flaw too, this guy looks like a perv so there are enough sexual scene on his work, i think that male reader (like me) will be just glad with that but for female reader it will be bit uncomfortable. One more thing to take note that looks like he's fond of school girl so... *cough *cough well i'm also okay with that because basicly i'm a perv too.
Anyway.. i feel lucky to get to know this mangaka although it was late. I'm planning to read his next manga 'Boys on the Run', but still on going so i'm not really preffered but who knows..
