Gag characters getting more attention in anime

many gag characters get a lot of attention than the main protagonists.

They are funny and their sole purpose is to make people laugh and such characters usually get attention from memes and funny videos for sure.
It's nothing new

Well, it's actually not wrong to say that they get enough attention but it doesn't mean they are more liked than the main characters in my opinion and how I see them as well.
