Female protagonists

How come female protagonists are far less in anime when compared to main protagonist's?
I am talking about the main character. I wouldn't could nami or Robin as the main protagonist's of one piece. Only luffy is the main protagonist in that anime

Male dominating society. Just kidding it's just normal that many anime with strong physical abilities have main protagonists as male because of the fights and endurance. Nothing more than that
