Does life in anime contrast from life in real living Japan?

and i have heard that japanese school girls, don't have such short skirts they show in anime.

Yeah I'd say it's actually pretty different, though it's not like I've been to Japan myself. I just imagine some aspects might be somewhat glamorized, or as you pointed out Angel skirts probably aren't as short as they are in anime.

The Japan life depicted in anime and manga is an exagrated version of the japnise culture. Much of the food, clothing and housing arangements are very much like RL or based on RL. Just like the life depicted in the US in TV and movies is over the top.
