Do you think that the excuse "I can't read the subs while watching" is legitimate?

I had to pass several anime at the beginning to read and understand whatever is going on in that Anime

People only need to make up excuses because anime elitists will harass them about their choice. Watch it and enjoy it how ever you want.

It depends, if they only use that excuse about anime but are happy to watch a movie subtitled then yeah it's BS... but if they have consistent morales about the whole thing then that's fair enough, I won't blame someone for not wanting to read.
