Well.. critics could be come from every possible angle, voice acting, story, art style, number of episodes, theme songs. So.. it's okay for me

Yes, it can make or break the anime, or as a third option give it a really odd feeling that makes it great.
I watch anime, films and play video games and in all 3, story isn't of importance to me. It's the characters, first and foremost. And then the visuals, animation/art-style and gameplay respectively. So in an anime, if the art-style or animation is unbearable I usually quit. Though this hasn't happened a lot of times.

As for story and bad art I don't care about bad art all that much but I can't stand incompetent animation. Besides, I don't assign a lot of importance to story. If you want to know why visit that thread.
