Do you think battle shonen doesn't deserve as much hate as it gets right now?

What do you think?
I am sure many people thinks it's not really good and all. Is it the same for you guys as well?

I don’t think it deserves the hate it gets. It’s a genre targeted at a younger audience, and people don’t get that when you get older, the stuff aimed at younger people don’t appeal to you anymore.

Something you also see a lot in other hobbies in the entertainment industry, is the hatred of entry level stuff. Since battle anime is usually most people’s introduction to anime, people tend to think entry level means not good.

On the other hand, the battle anime fandom isn’t exactly helping their case either. A lot of them are what I call “reverse” snobs where they have the mindset of “if I’ve never heard of it, it’s not good”, and most popular anime are battle anime. So you see where this is going.

The stale nature of the community is also not helping. If you took a 10-15 year hiatus and came back, it’s the same conversations about the same shows years ago, and not much else has changed.

I agree with what Grungie said my problem with battle shounen anime, and mind you the anime alone, is that there are fundamental issues that have existed since two decades back that still haven't been addressed.

My issue is with the Shonen Jump side of battle manga. If I wanna watch mindless fighting, cool. I got tired of the fights being interrupted with people explaining how their attacks work, or interrupt the fights with back story. Then there’s Food Wars where it’s full on SJ tropes, but since they’re so serious and it’s over cooking, it’s hilarious. “Wow, you can tell he’s seen many battles in the kitchen, look at his skill whipping that batter”.

You've basically explained what my problem is actually. It's why I couldn't watch Jujutsu Kaisen any longer and I'm baffled by everyone praising it. Meanwhile something like Fire Force doesn't have this issue as much in both seasons but the fan service unfortunately detracts a lot of people.

It depends. For some it's a great show and they are willing to argue and fight to defend the series lol but for me personally.. this battle shonen (the mainstream ones) is already past my time, the themes annoyed me so much. They need to change the themes but that's impossible, well.. at this point you already know my answer for this

Jujutsu Kaisen is SJ, so that doesn’t surprise me. Fire Force is publish by Square Enix iirc, so they don’t really have some of those tropes associated with Shueisha stuff.

It’s kind of why I’m enjoying Index/Railgun, though primarily more with Railgun, they don’t really bother going too much in depth on their abilities, if at all, and they just go at it for the most part. Oh, Misaka controls electricity, cool. I didn’t have to sit through 20 minutes of people narrating how you can use electricity and use that to throw metal objects through electromagnetism.

may be lol
but i am sure there are many people who doesn't like anime having only fights and nothing more.
