Small main protagonist?
What's this all about? I am not getting the flow of this topic. So not sure about this.
 
someone like edward elric but with no good power against someone like ichigo

I don't think size would be a matter in anime, well.. sometimes it is but generally i don't think so

Only in anime.
But in our world it matters a lot and you don't see many small people going up against, bug guys.
