Do you like to read Fan made Mangas?

Up until a few minutes ago, I thought doujinshi was the Japanese way to designate the manga equivalent of fanfiction and fanart, but that is not the case. That word just means self-published manga.

Since the same author publishes their story, a good amount of them might actually be fan-made pieces to complement or mix the original pieces in an unofficial way, pretty much like fanfics, but the same term is used for amateur artists trying to bring their original manga into the world by themselves.

Anyway, have you read Fan-made manga on franchises you like?
Do yous each them often?
Do you have a favourite author?

Many years ago, I used to love reading Zelda Fan-made manga. Deviant art was and is still a pretty good source. Tumblr is another option. Right now there is a popular one about Zelda and Ganondorf being married, haha. It is actually drawn in a pretty serious style and the premise is not as farfetched as it sounds with the in-story argument.
 
Honestly not so much.they lack the passion and original content. Some stories are good but they are quite rare.
 
Fanfiction huh? Hmm.. I had read them before some time ago. But some authors did not complete their series. There was also one that I translated it.

Of course we can't really compare them to the main stream authors who are recognised and contracted with manga publishers. But it gives a platform for people who aim to become a mangaka and a place to practise their drawings and story-telling. Such fanfiction should be encouraged. If they are good, publishers will notice and recognise them.

For those who have tried, keep going! :lalala:

That's really sweet of you. Have you checked the fanfiction corner here? Some stories are really good
 

They are indeed cute but there are many more and admins should add them too. I have enjoyed KuranKaname's , and smokers story.
 
It depends. If their story holds my interest, then sure. If it doesn't hold my interest, then it doesn't take long before I'm out of there. It all depends on how good their story is and whether or not I find it interesting enough.
 
Some anime would get better after 5 episodes senpai. So you need patience
 
Some fanfiction are good. Like Ai no kusabi but some are trash like naruto. I like reading fan fic now and then but not often
