Do you change your antivirus often?

Do you use the same antivirus software for years, or do you like to test new antivirus programs and change them once in a while?

When I used a Windows PC, I used the same two programs all of the time. Avira (free edition) for virus scanning and removal, and Malware Bytes for malware. With my Macbook, I don't use a virus protection software as Macs are notorious for not getting viruses. At least, I haven't heard of anyone with a Mac contracting one.

There are viruses for Macs too, but they are more rare than the ones for PCs... It's mostly because not a lot of people use Macs, and the hackers don't bother to create viruses for an operating system used by a small percentage of the population...

I usually keep the same one unless I get something in my machine the old one couldn't get rid off, then I try to find a better option and stick to it till next time something like what I said happens.
I've been with AVG for many years now.

Yes, usually. But I rather not use any software for protection :S

Don't you care about the files in your PC? You could lose them if you caught a virus and you didn't have any antivirus to at least quarantine it...

To be honest, I stopped using Anti-Virus for my laptops/desktop PCs in 2009 when Windows 7 came out. I usually avoid unknown websites or porn sites or stuff that could spread viruses or malwares and in fact, I didn't get infected so far.

It is my belief that once you have a good enough and effective enough anti virus then you will not need to change it.

I have changed a view times, mostly based on performance and testing of other AVs. Eventually a AV isn't as good as it used to be for some reason.

I don't change it often unless I don't have any subscription and decided to live by using the trial versions available.

i use sophos, but depending on what you do, you do not need one.  i have a few tech friends that do not use them at all for years.

sometimes they will download and scan and they have come out with 0 threats, so it all depends what you do really.

i like to have peace of mind that just in case i don't spot something it may pick something up or flag something up.

i also do not use payed software as free programs are fine and no need to upgrade for a paid version, its a waste of money.

people have been so scared into buying anti virus they but it all the time and when it runs out they panic and buy it again.

most of these firms out there have hackers creating stuff for them. think about it no virus's no market for it= no money.

sure you have malicious hackers as well.  but if you use common sense its unlikely that you will get a virus. obviously its always possible as long as you are connected to the internet.
