Dishwasher vs. Hand Washing

Okay, guys.
So I posted a facebook status the other day about my Dishwasher, and received some feedback about how I was 'given two hands for a reason' and implying that using a dishwasher is lazy.
I didn't install the dishwasher, the house came with it and it's the first time in my adult life I've lived in a house with one.

I definitely see the benefits of a dishwasher, though. They are more economical, they save time, they save water (and are thus more environmentally friendly.)
Before I had one, I really thought I didn't need one. Now that I do though, I think I'd struggle to keep the dishes at bay without them (we used to have a bit of a problem with them piling up in the sik, in our previous homes.)

So I guess I put it to you, what do you prefer?
Is one definitely better than the other?
Did my friend have a point? (Not that it's likely to affect my choices...)

I personally would prefer to have a dishwasher however with the way my kitchen is I as of right now do not have the ability to have one installed therefore I have to put up with using my hands which I hate as I have very sensitive hands and they can get easily dried out and sore especially during the winter months when I have to wash dishes like that. I would love to one day have the ability to have a dishwasher as I don't see it as being lazy but as a way to have more time to do the things that matter.

I would like to have a dishwasher as well, though I won't deny it isn't always safe for dishes. Sometimes hand washing is better.

Hand wishing.
Dish wisher is quite expensive and it needs certain architecture.

I don't have anything. So, I prefer hand washing.

I prefer to handwash to save me some money with electric bill and also uses less water.

I understand the certain architecture, which is why we never had a dishwasher before this house.
I don't accept that they use more water, though...Unless you don't rinse your dishes after scrubbing. Which is gross.

No one would leave their dishes alone after just scrubbing.
What are you talking about?

Yeah. I think one of the things dishwasher makers brag about is that you save water with them.
You'd need to be using without filling it with dishes and overall trying on purpose to make it less effective.

Anyway. Handwashing for me. I am just used this way. We do have a dishwasher here but so far I have just left it alone.
