Ace said:well then our post count would go down and manually archiving each one is alot of work
blackrose said:But I just don't see what the big issue is. How is it harming anyone?
Ace said:what the lowering of the posts or the old threads?
cause the archiving bit would be hell XD it's just really tedious to do i've done it before for a different site and hooooobooy i spent a few hours to double check if it was archived
blackrose said:No the posting on the old threads. I like going through them and if I see something I like I want to bring it to other's attention. Sometimes a dormant thread that is revived can become the most active
Ace said:no idea, like i said before as long as it fits the topic it's perfectly fine
blackrose said:Well I just hope that if I do post in an old thread I won't get any scoldings lol I'm blaming it on you XD
Ace said:oh shiz gotta edit my post make it seem im innocent!!!@
MadaraUchiha said:Obviously can't archive them, it's time consuming. And you can't ask us to delete them. Honestly that's ridiculous.
Ace said:it is time consuming but it does prevent this issue. that's why i suggested archiving along while ago. while it is time consuming that's why you could put restrictions on what you can archive
EX: has the user been active in the last year?, No? Check their topics for the oldest ones archive.
that's how i did it before on an older site
MadaraUchiha said:Problem is almost every member is inactive.
And Clara made the genius job of deleting a lot of active members accounts when she started deleting spam accounts.
Ace said:still, it'd prevent this problem, you can also narrow it down to but not limited to- Resolved topics EX: problems, questions etc.

Claraviolet said:Deleting old posts isn't a good idea Rose. For forums posts are very important.
As for bumping them, I bet people are getting uncomfortable when they see some very old plugin which is no longer in use getting posts... Or getting a post in some solved problem and such. I am sorry. I know you are new to this and I should have explained this better

I get this Claraviolet but I am just saying that what if the ones we post in are revived and become more active and also I don't think people would post in those threads that have been solved. That would just be stupid . I am just saying that it is possible that I am not the only user that feels this way. Checking out old and interesting threads is how we get to know the site better
This seems like a good idea
