Have you watched this anime series?

It is rather interesting and it has a rather dark and deep theme - what happens to souls after we die. Humans are either sent to the void or reincarnated. But for some, at the instant of their death, they arrive at Quindecim, a bar attended by a mysterious character named Decim.

After death, humans are either sent to the void or reincarnated. But for some, at the instant of their death, they arrive at Quindecim, a bar attended by the mysterious white-haired Decim. He challenges them to the Death Game, wherein they wager their lives and reveal their true natures. Decim himself is the ultimate arbitrator of who wins and who loses, who will go to the void, and who will be reincarnated. source:kissanime.

How many of you guys saw this anime? It's about some godlike creatures judging people who died in the very same time and then deciding the destination of the souls. Either reincarnation or dropping a Soul to the void depend's on a game and the display of emotions by these souls. It's not good but not bad but it certainly plays with emotions. So what do you think about this anime guys?

I have only seen Death Billiards, a short film that was made for Anime Mirai project. Death Parade was made because the Death Billiards was so popular and fans wanted to see more =) I liked that movie. I think it had something to say, which I always like in film. Dunno if Death Parade is as good, but if it is I'm sure I would enjoy it.

I saw that after reading star's post but in the end the outcome is unfair.
Did that death billiards have unfair story line too?

It's a very good anime =)

No, I don't think it is tragic. It is about two people who died and was tested before receiving their final judgement. I guess you can't call that a happy setting, but I don't think they tried to make the film feel tragic.

In the first two episodes of this anime, the woman made it to the void.
Is that part the same in death billiards too?

I haven't seen that. Anyway I don't know if I would be judging an anime by how my personal ideas about justice compare with the way it was shown in the series.

Death Billiards is a story about and old guy and a young guy playing billiard =) That is it. I think Death Parade is not supposed to be another version of the same story, but it is rather a continuation.

I see.
Here a husband and wife compete with each other and it's just sad to watch them.

You don't judge anything based on your opinion?
That seems rather superficial to me.

Well no, I didn't say anything like that xD I'll explain :P When a character in a story does something bad it does affect my perception of that character. And I do judge that character by my own ideas of justice (as all of us do). But when I think about the story I think about its merits, not at the merits of the characters =) You can have a story where everyone has perfect moral qualities but the story may still be boring if you didn't write it well. Or you can have a story where justice is being trampled on, but the story may still be amazing. And even if the unfairness has nothing to do with particular characters, but instead is kinda just there, like a fate of sorts, still it is not going to affect the way I "score" the story =)

It is.
They kinda harm each other and at the end the wife is doomed to fall in void, just because she wanted her husband to attain peace :(

I would like to see that episode. I'll probably watch the anime.

Are you serious? Even after all that cruelty?

Well it sounds like an unusual plot, and it is about normal people. Its the sort of stuff I am interested in =) I can watch anime with depressing plot, its okay.
