Cooking anime is somehow important to me, when i was a kid i always watched Mr.Ajikko (Born to Cook) every Sunday morning, the series really inspired me to cook and of course it stimulate my my hunger haha.. i hate having breakfast but after watching the show i always feel hungry and want to get breakfast

Okay back to the topic, as a kid i started learnt to cook by modifying instant noodle with various spices, herbs and condiments. Well in the end i never become that good with cooking but without getting inspired by the series, probably i never able to cook anything at all

i don't think there are many cooking anime like food wars.
i am reading this prince's hungry webtoon and it's a cooking webtoon

is it safe to even say these cooking animes use actual recipes?

Yup it is, in Mr.Ajikko the two times fried karage is actually legit technique, i saw it on YouTube. And at one episode he cook folded pizza that actually called Calzone in Italia

I'm not big on cooking but there's an interesting history about why anime have foods that are drawn in a delicious way. I'll link the video if I find it.
Food Wars is probably the only major cooking show I've watched.

I've seen some clips from Food Wars, yes indeed it looks extremely delicious, sometimes it more appealing than the real thing haha..

I have heard that it can be very intense sometimes.
Also, I am not into romance genre. So , I just can't decide.

But cooking is the main theme, so i think romance will just be the spice to heat things up

Well, I will add it to my waiting list. I would probably watch it at some point. But that's not a certain decision..
