Characters that were changed

While this is somewhat of a subjective opinion if it was for the worse or for the better. The thing is that the character is now what the original material showed to us.

 I am sure there have been characters than were not taken proper care when transferring them into the anime.
It can be the design or it can be that they just destroyed their personalities.

This thread is to talk about them and why you feel they got the short end  of the stick when they were adapted or to praise the good changes some of them received.
So, do you know of any character that got radically changed?

The main character of Tokyo Ghoul, I guess.... In the anime, he is shown as someone who is dumb, and rash...... But, in the manga version, he kind of uses his brains sometimes, and isn't as emo as shown in the other version......

Black butler too. Somehow they made sebastian look less than capable in the anime version but in manga he is unstoppable with his powers.
