Can you name main protagonist who do drugs/junkies?

Welcome to the NHK's main protagonist is a hikikomori and he does do drugs though it's not exactly a major part of whatever I've seen of the anime. Serial Experiments Lain also has a lot of drug addicts but Lain herself isn't.
A lot of anime only involve an episode or two about some character, not necessarily the MC getting drugged.

Don't think it'll count, but Nico from Gansta. has to take drugs in order to be OP, is more of a medicine, but it takes it like his life depends on it, so does it count?

I think drugs are just very unaccepted in japan, most people here my age are fine with them.

It's a common term used in anime. Unemployed people who sit at home and watch anime or play games and never come out.

Maybe that's the reason, just like drinking alcohol in India. Well every region have their own poison haha..

main protagonist don't do things like that
they are always very good and exceptional at everything in the end.

They are some main protagonists that have seen using drugs. Kaneda from Akira, Mugen from Samurai Champloo and the most recent one i found is Ryo from Shamo

i have watched samurai champloo but i don't remember much from it
