B: if you’re making YouTube videos and you just need music for stuff, you can just snag royalty free Japanese music or royalty free J-Pop or J-Rock style music and you’re gold.

We’re talking about using songs in YouTube videos and finding copyright free music. It has little to nothing to do with whatever you’re going on about.
If there wasn’t an issue with copyright takedowns of videos, there’s nothing stopping me from using a song from a random anime as background music. You just need to go “oh, this song sounds cool” and throw it into your video.

but how would you know for real whether something is copyrighted or not? most people think if they use the original credits in the description then it should be fine

If you get the song from a site or source that sells royalty free music, it should be fine. If it isn't, they lied to you. If you're using a song that's directly taken from a show/game/whatever it's copyrighted.Blackangel said:
Some fair use stuff is a bit wonky, and it depends on how anal the copyright holder of the song in question is. Sometimes you can get away with using a snippet of a song and they don't care. Some will straight up take down the video, and others will just take away monetization.
Listing the song in your credits in the description doesn't give you a free pass, it's just giving credit where credit is due.
