Are there any anime characters who are too realistic for their own universe?

I can only think of Akame from Akame ga kill anime, for this list.
What about you guys? Do you have any characters who are not optimistic but rather realistic?

Only one that comes to mind is Lain from Serial Experiments Lain. Anime gets pretty trippy.
