Any anime that was really popular in Japan but didn't have success in the West?

but it's not too unpopular lol and i am sure they even made the modifications to release the kid-friendly version

Well, I have heard that Naruto is popular outside Japan where as One Piece is popular in Japan.
So, there is that difference in general

The first four are virtually unknown in the West, and Doraemon is mostly unknown in the West.

They recognize who Doraemon is, but you’d be hard pressed to find someone that watched Doraemon. Shin Chan is know by anyone who watched it on Adult Swim, but that wasn’t very successful.

and there is so much merchandise out there and i am sure people know about it a lot from the merchandise alone
