Anime's Roots in Japan

When did anime begin there?  When did it become popular?  How did it seep out to the west?  What do you feel is unique about anime - making it appealing to Japanese and westerners?

Probably so, but I think it exploded, at least in the west, when all the karate stuff became popular, stuff like, The Karate Kid, Bruce Lee Movies etc..  Anyway, I'm sure the internet was the biggest boost, but I could be wrong.   I mean, comic books have always been a popular niche.

Maybe started from 50's or 60's

I think so too
It's still too early and we have Sazae san which had been airing from second world war.

Not sure myself, if I had to take a guess its because Japan always drew things, guess they just wanted to animate it?

They usually cite Astro Boy as the start, and a lot of early anime is based on Japan’s love of Disney.

Also the Sazae-San anime didn’t start in the 40’s, it started in the 60’s.

That would make much more sense than anything else.

A bet I get to know a lot from that report.
I am totally excited to see what's in it. Thanks a lot, Tiger.

However it did start, I kind of wish the industry had better standards, most workers are underpaid and overworked sadly.

Tbh it’s not that hard to find out what year a show started, I knew when y’all were mentioning the 40’s that was definitely wrong.

Usually people don't try to find more information about a show, studio and other things.
I am not very thorough.
