Anime where main protagonist died

Wolf's rain is one such anime and it's very sad. I don't really get it much and it seemed like a vicious circle.
What about you guys? Is there an anime where the main protagonist died?

far as I'm concerned, Phantom is still a sad ending for the two main characters.


For me, if it counts, Cowboy bebop is another.

Can't recall any of the top of my head but I would just like to say that I hate these kinds of twists in a story...it upsets me. I prefer happy endings
